Our Ballyhar U12 A's fine season ended in Cup disappointment in the sunshine in Dingle.
A very tightly contested game saw chances limited for both sides ,Gavin Sheehan was reliable as ever and our defence of Cole Buckley, Paddy Hurley and Dermot Nealon were kept busy in the first half as the home side tried to force their way ahead. Dingle were playing with a well drilled defence and played a lot on the counter. Jack Cooper was at the centre of a lot of the Ballyhar attacks and nearly broke the deadlock with some fine trickery only to be denied by the Dingle goalkeeper. Jack Cooper also went close but to no avail.
Ballyhar were enjoying their best spell of the game, when against the run of play, Dingle took the lead 5 mins before half-time, with their skillful forward slipping through the Ballyhar defence to make it 1-0.
Straight away Ballyhar attacked through Bryan Evans but as with a lot of the game, they were crowded out by the blanket defending by Dingle. H/T 1-0
Ballyhar needed a goal and they upped the pressure in the 2nd half. Fabian Mrotek ran his socks off for the cause and Marcus O'Sullivan came in to change things around, joined shortly after by Noah Finn who made some fine clearances as Dingle pressed on the counter looking for a second goal to kill the game. Ballyhar did have their chances but luck was not on their side, with Jack Sheehy shooting narrowly wide having turned his man and Tiernan Scanlon unlucky to see a shot cannon back off the post following a goalmouth scramble. Micheál Griffin came in to add some energy in this draining second half but time ran out and Dingle go on to the next round. F/T 1-0
We'd like to thank Dingle Bay Rovers for this sporting fixture and their hospitality and wish them well going forward.
