Ballyhar made the trip to Killorglin today and in trying conditions proved too strong for the home side and secured all 3 points.
Ballyhar started the game strongly and broke the deadlock in the 6th minute when Sean Ogie Griffin played in Dylan Fitzgerald with a lovely through ball, Fitzgerald squared the ball across the Killorglin box for the incoming Ryan Quilter to glide it into the net 0-1. The ball found the net again in the 11th minute, Quilter dispossessed the Killorglin defender and made no mistake in making it 0-2. 21 minutes in and Jack Kelly found Quilter down the right hand side, he beat the Killorglin defender and finished it well to complete the hattrick. 0-3
The second half saw Killorglin enjoy more possession but it was Ballyhar who found the net again in the 40th minute when Adam O Meara picked out Odhran Leslie in the box and he expertly finished to make it 0-4. 49th minute Ballyhar lost the ball on the half way line, the Killorglin striker was played in, he beat the last Ballyhar defender and finished well. 1-4
50th minute Corner from Adam O Meara finds Daire Cornally on the edge of the box who struck it beautifully into the back of the net. 1-5 Gearoid Moynihan was unlucky not to get on the score sheet when he saw his effort rattle the bar and the follow up from Shane Edwards hit the post. 51st minute Odhran Leslie saw his effort saved and the rebound fell to Quilter who made it 1-6. Finally, 3 minutes from time Quilter strikes from outside the box to make it 1-7.
Credit to Killorglin for a sporting game. Best for Ballyhar were Odhran Leslie, Ryan Quilter, Shane Edwards and man of the match Sean Ogie Griffin.
This was the final league game of the Division 1 South where this Ballyhar team finds themselves 3 points clear at the top, with MEK 3 points behind and having one game to play to draw level at the top of the table. The anticipation awaits for another day to see will there be a playoff final match or not to decide the Division 1 South league champions.
