U12 Girls Division 1: Iveragh Utd 1 - 0 Ballyhar Dynamos

Our Ballyhar U12 Girls faced a tough away trip to Caherciveen to face an Iveragh side with 3 big wins and 17 goals already under their belt. The home side were lively from the off but Ballyhar were strong in defence and never looked in any real danger. Ballyhar, who were missing a some key players, missed a few half chances in the first half with Mollie O'Connor and Lucy Wynne going close. Working hard in the middle of the park for Ballyhar were Grace O'Sullivan and Leah Cooper who limited the Iveragh attacks while Emily O'Callaghan, Anna Fitzgerald and Kate O'Connor rebuffed all danger that crossed the halfway line.

The wind was a factor in the game, as is often the case in Cahersiveen, and with the elements at their backs in the 2nd half, Iveragh were the ones to make the breakthrough. They broke down the right hand side after a long ball out of defence which found their forward who slotted home a shot from inside the box. The Ballyhar girls dug deep and piled on the pressure but to no avail (given the limited time they had due to some confusion over match length).

It was a disappointing result when a draw would have been a much fairer outcome but the girls worked hard and will learn from their first defeat of the season.

Best for Ballyhar were Emily O'Callaghan in defence, Mollie O'Connor who ran all day and Anna Fitzgerald whose throw-ins continue to cause panic in the oppositions defence.
