It was a share of the spoils for our U12 Girls but they will feel it was 2 points lost as they failed to take full advantage of their chances at Murtt Scott Park on Saturday morning.
Ballyhar, started the brighter with great play in the middle of the park from Leanne Collins leading to a chance for Niamh O'Sullivan who shot just over. Ballyhar continued to dominate the midfield battle with Leah Cooper making some incisive runs. The back three of Aoibhinn Daly, Anna Fitzgerald and Seoidin Scanlan were rock solid and cleared everything that came their way! This meant that Emma O'Callaghan, who was making her return to the No 1 jersey, had a quiet first half in goals. The opening goal started with a missile like throw from Anna Fitzgerald which led to a great breakaway run by Lucy Wynne who slotted it home into the corner with her trademark finish. H/T 1-0
The second half continued in a similar vein to the first, with several chances falling to the Ballyhar girls and with a little more composure in front of goals the game could, and should have been put to bed. Alas, Mastergeeha scored against the run of play with their one and only clear cut chance of the game. Ballyhar kept pushing but were wasteful in front of goals and it ended 1-1.
Overall a positive performance from all the girls and unlucky not to get the win! Best for Ballyhar were Anna Fitzgerald, Aoibhinn Daly, Leanne Collins and Lucy Wynne.
