U13 Boys Premier Division: Ballyhar A 1 - 5 St Brendan's Park

Ballyhar welcomed St. Brendans Park to Murt Scott Park on a wet and windy Saturday morning. The top of the table visitors proved too strong for our U13 A team today but the lads put in a great effort, never gave up and the final score may have flattered the visitors slightly.

Ballyhar didn't get off to the best start, conceding after just 5 minutes following a corner. The ball was cleared at first but the follow up was a looping shot that came off the crossbar and unfortunately fell nicely to the Park forward, to slot home from close range. Ballyhar steadied the ship through a combination of resolute defending and some excellent saves from goalkeeper Daniel Duggan that kept the scoreline down. Then after about 20 mins, Ballyhar played a long ball out of defence and Ryan Vickers stormed though to excellently slot the ball home beyond the Park keeper. The sides went in all square at the break. Game on.

In second half Ballyhar were playing into the elements and just after the restart they were hit with a sucker punch. A long ball was played over the defence, and aided by the strong wind, the bounce of the ball deceived Dan Duggan in goals and looped into the net over his head. Park went 3:1 up following an excellent cross which was headed home at the back post. Ballyhar kept going and tried to generate a few chances, but just couldn't get the final pass clicking. Park completed scoring late on with 2 further goals and were just too strong for us today.

On a day when every player in Blue dug deep and gave everything, a special mention must be given for Daire Cornally, Gearoid Moynihan, Dan Duggan and Man Of Match Sean O'Leary.
