U13 Girls Division 1

U13 Girls Division 1

On a heavy Tralee pitch the Ballyhar girls gave an excellent performance to come away with a well deserved draw.

Ballyhar started brightly with Clara Dower and Niamh O Sullivan working hard up front.

The central midfield duo of Roisin Mannix and Emma O Callaghan were breaking up the Tralee momentum and helping to push Ballyhar forward. On the wings the always great Anna Kate Daly and the energetic Maisy O Sullivan kept the pressure on the Tralee team.

On 18 mins Roisin Mannix took a free kick in a central position that that found its way through to Niamh O Sullivan who held off two defenders and slotted into the top right hand corner. 1-0 to Ballyhar

The tables turned after this and Tralee who were moving the ball really well started to pile on the pressure. Full backs Faye O Brien and Emily O Callaghan had their hands full with the Tralee wingers but brave defending kept the Ballyhar lead in tact. The centre back pairing of Anna Fitzgerald and Aoibhinn Daly were repelling all attempts as the home team pressed for an equaliser. On the rare occasion that a shot got through the Ballyhar defence, keeper Ella Mitchell was in fine form saving all efforts.

Erica McCarthy came on for Clara Dower and continued the hard work upfront by hassling and pressing the Tralee defence.

As the Ballyhar defence got deeper and deeper it was only a matter of time until an equaliser came. Eventually with just 5 mins to go Tralee got the breakthrough. Following a ball into the box from the right wing a scramble in the box ensued and as Ballyhar cleared the ball if fell to a Tralee player who shot low into the comer of the net 1-1.

This is how the game finished and Ballyhar will take a well deserved and hard earned point.

Best on the day for Ballyhar were Roisin Mannix, Anna Kate Daly, Niamh O'Sullivan and Emma O'Callaghan.
