On a beautiful Saturday morning, the Ballyhar girls travelled to table toppers Fenit in search of a result that might help secure 2nd place in the league.
The girls were full of energy and focus and pressed in their trademark style from the off.
The first half saw a number of half chances fall to Ballyhar but nothing that could be called clear cut. Erica McCarthy and Niamh O'Sullivan having the best of them but failing to really test the keeper.
In midfield the tireless running of Anna Kate Daly and Feile Dower on the flanks caused the home side ongoing problem all morning. And the introduction of Mollie O'Connor up front added pace and a threat in behind.
In the heart of midfield Roisin Mannix and Emma O'Callaghan were both controlling the play and breaking up attacks as needed.
The back line of Emily O'Callaghan, Anna Fitzgerald , Aoibhinn Daly and Kate O'Connor were never under threat and cleared their lines with ease when asked.
In goals Ella Mitchell had very little to do but made a few saves and distributed the ball very well. H/T 0-0
The introduction of Maisy O'Sullivan, Faye O'Brien, Olivia Prenderville, Chazmine Carungay, Grace O’Sullivan and Aoibhinn Pavolvic brought fresh legs into the game as needed and contributed to the second half performance of the season that secured the win. A hat trick from Niamh O'Sullivan and one from Mollie O'Connor made the difference as the Ballyhar girls pressed home their advantage once on top.
A great result for Ballyhar who continue their good recent form.
