A strong 2nd half performance by our U14s made sure that an evening in Kenmare was a good one to watch under the lights.
Ballyhar started very sloppy with the fast playing surface of Kenmare's fantastic new pitch, taking a good while to get used to. The hosts took advantage of this, and inside 5 mins scored from a tight angle. As the half went on, the young Kenmare side caused plenty of trouble, but thankfully, goalkeeper Adam Quirke and his great backline of Aaron Looney, Daithi Allen, Eoin Cremin & Joshua O'Sullivan kept the door closed. At the other end, Daniel Ryan was causing nightmares for the home defence with his pace and running down the right, with Killian O'Sullivan having a few shots on target with the Kenmare keeper making the save of the game on 20 mins across his body to dent 1 fine effort. H/T 1-0
With changes made at the break, Ballyhar started the 2nd half with great intensity and scored 2 goals in 2 mins. First, it was Adam Fleming, who smashed 1 home after some good play down again the right. Then it was Daniel Ryan's beautiful looping volley into the far corner to put Ballyhar in front. 1-2 Five mins later, things got worse for the home side with a defender unlucky to put a hand out with the ball bouncing up in the box and the ref pointed to the spot. Fleming stepped up and stroked it into the bottom corner to give us a 2-goal cushion. 1-3 With Ballyhar now completely on top, the Kenmare defence was under massive pressure, and Fleming went in search of his hat-trick, which came on 50 mins from another fine strike. Kemare to their credit kept fighting and got a goal back on the stroke of full-time to make it 2-4 at the final whistle.
A real game of 2 halves for Ballyhar, but the lads put in a great 2nd half performance. Best for Ballyhar were Adam Quirke, Aaron Looney, and MOTM Adam Fleming.
