U14 Girls Division 1: Ballyhar 4 - LB Rovers 1

Ballyhar opened their season with a Friday evening KO and got a good win against LB Rovers.
It was a horrible evening for soccer, but the home team got off to a great start when Emma O'Callaghan won the ball in the middle of the park and laid it off to Mollie O’Connor who in turn set up Niamh O’Sullivan for her first of the evening on 4 mins. LB rovers pulled it back to level on 12 mins when a mix up in defence left an uncleared ball and despite an initial save the rebound was tucked away.

On 27 mins Maisy O’Sullivan played a ball in for Erica McCarthy who combined with Mollie O’Connor as they piled on the pressure to win back the  ball. O’Connor played a precise through ball from midfield to Niamh O’Sullivan who shot across the keeper to slot home hers and Ballyhar’s 2nd. H/T 2-1

Ballyhar got off to a great start to the second half, when just 2 mins in Ballyhar won a free kick just outside the box. Up stepped Niamh O'Sullivan to strike a rasper into the top corner to complete her hat trick.  The scoring was completed in 42nd min when the lethal partnership of O’Sullivan and O’Connor combined again this time in reverse with Mollie O’Connor using her speed to chase down a through ball and finish to the bottom corner. F/T 4-1

All in all a great performance from Ballyhar with outstanding performances from Faye O'Brien in defence , Mollie O'Connor and Niamh O'Sullivan.
