Our U14's qualified for the Shield semi-finals last night following a strong 2nd half performance. We started brightly and were unlucky not to get an early goal after a fantastic run down the right by Jim O'Dowd ended with his shot being put out for a corner. We lost our shape soon after that though and had to soak up a fair bit of pressure for the rest of the half as they hoofed every ball they could towards our goal. Marcus Clifford showed great leadership from centre back under all the high balls along with Jamie Quirke and Jonathan Galvin. While Ross Lally, Conrad Long and Jamie Fleming worked hard down the left to create a few chances but we went in 0-0 at halftime.
Changes at the break paid off after just 6 mins with the opening goal coming from the boot of Anthony Cremin. 2 more goals soon followed from Davin Quilter and Conrad Long as Ballyhar took control of the 2nd half over a tiring home side. John Henderson then finished off the scoring with the clock winding down to give the lads a sometimes shaky but solid victory and a place in the Shield semi-final.
