It may have been a comfortable win in the end, but our U15s made a bit of hard work during their victory on Tuesday evening at a sun soaked Murt Scott Park.
It was a sloppy enough 1st half for Ballyhar, and despite numerous chances and plenty of possession, it wasn't until just before halftime that the scoreline reflected the home sides' dominance. Davin Quilter opened his account on the night with his first goal 10 mins in. But following a number of bad misses, it took until 5 mins just before halftime when Jim O'Dowd finally hit the back of the net following great work from Anthony Cremin down the right. Quilter played a part in the 3rd goal playing Cremin in beautifully, who squared for O'Dowd to get his 2nd and the last goal of the half. H/T 3-0
The 2nd half saw Ballyhar spread the ball around better with Jamie Fleming doing well after moving into midfield. Quilter got his 2nd of the game on 40 mins before a wonder strike from Mastergeeha gave the visitors hope at 4-1. But Jim O'Dowds hat-trick put any hope of that to bed, before Quilter got his 3rd and 4th goals of the game. Captain Marcus Clifford finished off the scoring for Ballyhar, which sees them through to the Shield Final against ANOTHER Mastergeeha side on Saturday. F/T 8-1
Hard luck to the visitors, who fought bravely and even had to go down to 10 men due to an injury in the 2nd half. As a mark of respect between the 2 clubs, Ballyhar also withdrew a player to even things up for the last 15 mins of the game. Best for Ballyhar were Tom Costelloe, Anthony Cremin, Jim O'Dowd, and Man of the Match - Davin Quilter.
