Our U17's got the season off to a wining start as they claimed all 3 points on Sunday against Listowel Celtic.
Ballyhar had the better of the first half but failed to convert a few chances but looked the more likely to score especially from corners. Listowel were restricted to a few long range pot shots as the Ballyhar defence stood strong. The temas went in at the half all square. H/T 0-0
The 2nd half got off to a great start with an early goal from Robert Kelly, Michael o'Sullivan swung in another threatening corner and Kelly met it well with his head to open the scoring. Listowel reacted well and ended up getting an equaliser in somewhat controversial fashion after it looked like a clear foul on the Ballyhar keeper. The goal stood and Ballyhar had to respond again which they did through 2 late goals, the first from new signing Gearoid Quirke with his left foot and the final goal of the game was scored by Michael o'Sullivan with the last kick off the game.
It was a great all round team effort against a decent Listowel sidethat hopefully the lads can build on. Best for Ballyhar were Odhran O'Neil, Gearoid Quirke, Jack Dicker, Rian Brosnan and Damien O'Connor.
