Our U17's took on a very strong, unbeaten, MEK side at the Dragon's Den in Killorglin on Sunday, and held their own for the first 25 mins, frustrating the home side and limiting them to shots from outside the box. Unfortunately chances at the other end were also limited, as MEK had plenty of defenders back to deal with any pressure we created. Eventually the constant pressure on our defence gave way to a wave of goals for the home side, as their tricky forwards made the most of their chances, scoring 4 just before half-time. H/T 4-0
A change in formation was needed and this helped Ballyhar get into the game a bit more in the 2nd half, as the back line of Conor Regan, Conrad Long and the brick wall that is Conor Giles, kept repelling numerous MEK attacks. 2 mistakes lead to 2 more goals for MEK, as we failed to really trouble the MEK keeper all game. F/T 6-0
Against very strong opposition, our lads never gave in, summed up by the constant running of Ross Lally, Sean Brosnan, Cillian Slattery, and Tom Costelloe in Midfield, and unfortunately, the busiest men on the pitch, our back line of Regan, Long and Giles.
