On Tuesday night under lights at Celtic Park, our seniors faced off against Killarney Celtic in the Charleville Cheese Premier B Division. Ballyhar took the lead on 25 minutes when Mike Daly dispatched a penalty after James Horgan was fouled in the box. Celtic equalised soon after to tie the game at 1-1 at the break.
Early in the second half, Celtic took the lead but Ballyhar made sure it wasn't for long with Ger Fitzgerald releasing James Horgan down the left with a lovely ball and James made no mistake to square the game again at 2-2. Then on the hour mark Trevor O'Shea was unlucky in the Ballyhar goal when a deflected shot spun up over his the head and into the net to give Celtic the lead. Celtic made it 4-2 on 70 minutes but Sean Cooper made sure of an interesting last 10 minutes when Diarmuid Brosnan put him through and he slotted it past the advancing keeper.Unfortunately that was the end of the scoring for both sides with Celtic holding on to win it 4-3.
The effort on the night of the lads in Ballyhar blue could not be questioned, with great effort from Trevor O'Shea, John Power, Maurice O'Donoghue, Kevin O'Sullivan, Ger Fitzgerald, Niall Donohue & Alan Moriarty.
