Senior Premier B: Ballyhar 1 AC Athletic 3

Senior Premier B: Ballyhar 1 AC Athletic 3

Ballyhar started well but fell behind 6 mins in. After the AC goal, Ballyhar had a good chance to get back level from the spot, only to see the shot go narrowly wide. AC then had a good spell creating a few good chances, but found Rian Brosnan on 1st senior appearance between the posts in good form, making a number of saves to keep Ballyhar in the game. Then on the stroke of halftime, Mike Daly got his head on a cross to glance an equaliser into the net and go in 1-1 at the break.

At the start of the 2nd half, Ballyhar were pinned back but defended very well for 10 min, then the ref gave a corner which was put out by an AC player, with resulting cross ending with the ball in the back of the Ballyhar net. 1-2. Thing went from bad to worse when Dan o Shea picked up a 2nd yellow card and from the resulting free kick AC scored their 3rd. Ballyhar managed the game well for the final 30 mins with 10 men and even had good chances to add to score line but wasn’t to be. Well done to the players for all their efforts on a very warm afternoon.
