On a nice afternoon in Murt Scott park, Ballyhar took on a strong Killarney Athletic side. With both teams going at it, Athletic found Ballyhar goalkeeper Patrick O’Connor in great form on the day, making a few very important saves. It was Ballyhar who scored a well deserved first half goal with 7 mins left in the first half, when Luke Ring struck a very well taken finish. Ballyhar held out until halftime 1-0 to home side.
The 2nd half was like the 1st with both teams pushing hard for the 2nd goal of the game, and it was Athletic who got their goal with 20mins to go. 1-1 All of a sudden, Athletic seemed to get a new lease of life and were causing the Ballyhar defence quite a bit of bother. Their 2nd goal came from a well taken free kick from just outside the box which was drilled into bottom corner 1-2. Ballyhar pushed for an equaliser, only for athletic to score their third to finish the score line 1-3 to killarney athletic.
A good game played in good spirit by both teams. Best of luck to Killarney Athletic for rest of season. Best for Ballyhar were Patrick O'Connor, Dan Shea, Ger Fitzgerald and Michael O'Sullivan.
