Our U12's made the trip to Camp on Saturday morning in very windy and wet conditions.
Both teams started strongly with no real clear cut chances, the deadlock was finally broken just before half time when a corner from Adam Fleming ended up in the back of the net with a little assistance from the wind to give Ballyhar the advantage going into halftime. H/T 0-1
The third quarter saw Ballyhar in complete control with some strong defending from Fionn Clifford with both Calum Templeman and Daithi Allen causing them constant trouble on both wings. You felt a second goal was coming and following an error in the Camp defence, Fleming let fly with a sweet shot from distance which found the top corner of the net. It was all Ballyhar now and the third goal was expertly finished by Alex Finn following Patrick O'Connors well struck shot came back off the crossbar. Ballyhar's fourth came from Fleming again with a low shot past the keeper following a through ball from Emma Harrington completing his hat trick anf making it 4-0. In the final quarter it was Camps turn to make full use of the wind and scored two quick long range goals which caught out the Ballyhar defence.
Things took a further turn for Ballyhar as Camp scored two more goals to turn the tie on it's head and made it 4-4 with just minutes remaining. However this young team never give up and with the very last play of the game, a Fionn Clifford clearance found O'Connor who made a great run down the wing, his cross found Alex Finn who showed great composure to control and drive the ball past the keeper for the winner.
Great character was shown by all in Ballyhar Blue in what were tough conditions. Thanks to Camp for a sporting game.
