U11 Bowl Final: Ballyhar 5 - Dingle Bay Rovers 3

U11 Bowl Final: Ballyhar 5 - Dingle Bay Rovers 3

Our U11's claimed their first ever silverware this morning in Kilcummin following a great recovery after going behind early against Dingle Bay Rovers.

Ballyhar started poorly and Dingle made them pay with 2 goals inside the first 6 mins. The first was from the penalty spot after just 2 mins, when Daithi Allen was adjudged to have fouled a player just inside the box. 3 mins later it was 2-0 to Dingle when Ballyhar were caught napping after losing the ball easily in midfield, the backline watched on as a Dingle forward ghosted in at the back post to finish past the keeper. The 1st quater break couldn't come soon enough and Ballyhar finally began to move the ball around better and while Dingle always looked dangerous, Ballyhar were threatening and got a vital goal just before the end of the 1st quarter when a cross by Patrick O'Connor from the left was met by Alex Finn at the back stick to convert from close range.

Ballyhar had their best 15 mins spell after the break with Daithi Allen winning a penalty 5 mins in, which O'Connor calmly tucked away to draw level. Ballyhar then took the lead after more great team play from Adam Fleming, Killian O'Sullivan and O'Connor with Finn finishing to the net for his 2nd of the game. Finn turned provider for Ballyhar's 4th goal as he set up O'Connor for his 2nd goal. Fleming was moving the ball around brilliantly for Ballyhar as they began to pile on the pressure. Then just before halftime O'Connor completed his hat-trick to give Ballyhar a 3 goal cushion at half-time.

H/T 5-2

The 2nd half was a closer affair as Dingle looked to get back in the game and both teams getting chances. Ballyhar were unlucky not to extend their lead with O'Sullivan and Daniel Ryan going close. Dingle did get a goal in the final quarter to make it a bit of a nervy finish but Daithi Allen was immense, blocking shots and making last ditch tackles to keep Dingle out while Patrick O'Connor, Aaron Looney & Brendan Flynn relieved the pressure up front. But in the end it was Ballyhar's day with a deserved victory 2 goal margin.

Best for Ballyhar were Daithi Allen, Patrick O'Connor, Alex Finn and MOTM Adam Fleming.
