U12 Div 1 Result: Ballyhar 1 - 1 St Brendan's Park B

The spoils were shared at Murt Scott Park on Saturday afternoon as Ballyhar put in a very strong performance against a good Park side. The lads may feel that they left it behind them today after dominating for good spells of the game but this Park side were well organised and always dangerous on the counter, so a draw is not a bad result.

Ballyhar started well with Callum Templeman and Patrick O'Connor working very well down the left and linking up well with Alex Finn and Adam Fleming. The Park keeper was the busier, making a few good saves when called upon and even got some help when he pushed a header from Alex Finn onto the crossbar. Ballyhar played some nice attacking football at times but Park defended well with plenty of strong fair challenges going around. Despite all the good play from Ballyhar the teams went in all square at the break.

H/T 0-0
Park exploded out of the blocks at the start of the 2nd half and caught Ballyhar napping and gained a real foothold on the game. They switched the play to their left wing and added a bit of pace up front which pushed Ballyhar onto their backfoot. They held on though and slowly began to get back in the game with Fleming going on some great runs down the right. But the moment that changed the game arrived on 45mins when Park were awarded a very soft free kick on the left. They floated it to the back post where a Park leg was waiting to poke the ball home. Ballyhar rightly felt hard done by and now had to dig deep to find an equaliser in a game they had been the better side for most of the game. Park weren't complaining and continued to try and pin Ballyhar back, but Fleming and Finn kept driving Ballyhar forward. Strong challenges were flying in from both sides and with 10 mins to go Ballyhar won a corner from the left. Patrick O'Connor swung in a nice deep cross where it was meet by the head of Alex Finn again and this time found the back of the net. It was a tense final 10 mins with both teams trying to push for a winner but after a very entertaining game ended with them having to settle for a point each. Well done to both teams for putting on a great display.
