Our Ballyhar U13 B team welcomed league leaders Killorglin B to a wet and windy Murt Scott Park on Saturday morning. Ballyhar looked to set about their business with a solid defensive set-up and began the game well with cool heads absorbing sustained Killorglin pressure. Noah Browne was the busier of the 2 keepers making some fine saves to keep Killorglin out. With little chances at the other end for Ballyhar, they went in at the break 0-0.
The 2nd half saw Ballyhar switch to 4-4-2 and the game opened up a lot more with plenty of chances for each side. Ballyhar's best chance came on 50 mins when Daniel Ryan made a fantastic diagonal run to beat the Killorglin back 4, but with the Keeper advancing off his line, his shot went agonizingly just wide of the far post. Then with only minutes remaining, Noah Browne pulled off another fine save that looked to have kept Ballyhar in the game, but just as the ball looked to be heading wide from the rebound, the wind played a part in slowing the balls momentum just a few inches from the end line. With Ballyhar's defence standing in disbelief a wily Killorglin forward reacting quickest, and slotting it in at the near post.
Ballyhar to their credit kept pushing forward until the final whistle to find an equaliser but just couldn't convert their chances. All in all it was a fine spirited performance from the boys & girls, with a very relieved Killorglin happy to be leaving Murt Scott Park with three points. Final score Ballyhar 0-1 Killorglin.
All the players put in a great effort, with best on the day: Fionn Clifford, Alan Mortek, Ohran Lesley, Killian O'Sullivan, Luke Bartlett and man of the match Noah Browne.
