Our U12 Blue team also finished off their league campaign with a great away performance on Saturday.
Playing against a strong breeze in the 1st Half, Ballyhar didn't let it dictate their game and with great wing play from Cillian O'Sullivan, Daithi Allen & the excellent Patrick O'Connor - Ballyhar always looked like creating something. Mastergeeha did have the majority of the ball though, which kept Callum Templeman, Kyle O'Callaghan and Fionn Clifford on their toes to keep them at bay.
The opening goal came from the home side as they swung in a corner from the right which bounced off a few players in the box before being struck to the roof of the net after 18 mins. Ballyhar went straight back to work with Allen, O'Sullivan and O'Connor causing constant problems up front. Then 5 mins before half time Ballyhar won a free on the right which was struck into the box by Fionn Clifford and subsequently hit the hand of a Mastergeeha defender for a clear penalty. Up stepped O'Connor to expertly slot it into the bottom right corner for the equaliser.
H/T 1-1
The 2nd half saw Ballyhar take full advantage of the strong breeze and pin the home side inside their own half. O'Sullivan and O'Connor lead the charge on numerous attacks with Emma Harrington also creating some good chances, 1 or 2 which just drifted wide of the target. The breakthrough for Ballyhar finally arrived on 45 mins, again from a free kick from Clifford. This time he simply hammered it through a crowded box 18 yards out from goal, right to the back of the net. Mastergeeha tried to hit back on the counter attack a few times but never troubled the Ballyhar keeper in the 2nd half.
It ended 2-1 to Ballyhar and a great team performance against a tough Mastergeeha side. Special mentions for both Danielle Brosnan and Kyle O'Callaghan who played very well but man of the match had to be the outstanding Patrick O'Connor.
