U12 Division 1: Ballyhar 0 Killarney Celtic 1

The U12s were unlucky to lose 1-0 at home against a good Killarney Celtic team on Sunday morning.

With 14 players, we had the opportunity to give the lads plenty of rest during the game.   Our 2 different defensive units of Ollie Kirwan, Sam Myers, Ruairi Casey and Ciaran Ferris, Ewan Myers, Diarmuid Fitzgerald kept Celtic out for much of the game, with Adam Quirke making some fine saves in the first half to keep the match tied at 0-0 at half-time.

Ballyhar grew into the game in the second half, hitting the post multiple times, drawing some great saves from the Celtic keeper and pulling some shots just wide. Our midfielders and forwards worked together to develop attacks through excellent passing and movement, with Brian McMahon, Darragh McLaughlin, Elliot Lyne, Jack Duggan, Reuben O Leary Griffin, Rian Comerford, and Josh Nelligan all giving 100%. Celtic took the lead through a penalty in the final quarter. From there, Ballyhar pushed on for the equaliser, and a rasping shot from 30 yards by Jack Duggan hit the post and went wide. At the death, Ruairi Casey drew a foul at the edge of the box, and from the free, the keeper pushed the ball onto the crossbar, with a defender diving with hands behind him to ensure it didn't go in. Luckily for Celtic, the keeper and cross bar combined to ensure the defender didn't give away the penalty. F/T 0-1

A very entertaining game, which no team deserved to lose, but unfortunately, Ballyhar came out the wrong side of the result. Great efforts by all involved.
