On a bitterly cold and frosty morning, Ballyhar Dynamos U12s hosted Listowel Celtic B.
After an even start to the game, Ballyhar scored their first goal on about 10 minutes and never looked back.
The defenders of Reuben O'Leary Griffin, Ciaran Ferris, Sam Myers and Ruairi Casey ensured Listowel rarely got a sniff of the Ballyhar goal.
The midfield of Elliot Lyne, Rian Comerford, Darragh McLaughlin and Jack Duggan worked tirelessly, in and out of possession, with some fantastic tackles, passes, skill and positional awareness.
Our passing game was in full evidence today, as time and again, our midfield and wing players combined well with Josh Nelligan, playing up front, who was clinical in his finishing.
Adam Quirke did excellently in goal when called upon, and ensured the clean sheet in the last few minutes of the game, when a Listowel penalty was drilled low and hard towards the bottom corner, only for Adam to get across with his foot, to turn the short off the post and out for a corner.
Listowel were unlucky to face us on a day when we had our performance of the season so far. Having lost to Kenmare (who Listowel have beaten this season) 5-0 last time out, the Ballyhar players responded in the perfect way today to win 9-0. Goal scorers: Josh Nelligan 3, Darragh McLaughlin 3, Jack Duggan 2 and Rian Comerford 1.
Well done to everyone involved, and thanks to Listowel for coming to Ballyhar so early on a Sunday morning. Best of luck to them for the rest of the season.
