U14 Division 2 South Result: Killarney Celtic 1 - Ballyhar Dynamos B 3

Ballyhar were back to league action against near rivals Killarney Celtic on Saturday, with a positive start seeing Ballyhar dominating from the off with captain Shane Edwards the stand out player throughout the entire game. Against the wind Ballyhar won a free kick, which was expertly delivered over the top of the defence by Alan Mrotek, with the Celtic keeper unsure of himself, he fumbled the ball in front of the waiting Shane Edwards who was in like a flash, took control of the loose ball and ensured it crossed the line. 1-0 Ballyhar. The game ebbed and flowed with stand in keeper Fionn Clifford only called upon once, rushing from goal to clear a ball out for a throw following a long ball from Celtic that caught out our defence.H/T 0-1

A few substitutions saw Kyle O'Callaghan spring from the bench to making an impactfull impression on the wing as Ballyhar went out on a mission to take the offensive. Some fine play and insightful runs from Daniel Ryan upfront was giving the Celtic defence awful headaches. Shane Edwards and Alan Mrotek again dominated midfield with Killian O'Sullivan, Luke Bartlett and Patrick O'Connor all providing excellent ball forward. And it was some great indivual work from O'Connor that brought the 2nd half to life, as he dribbled forward beating several celtic players, fixing his sight on goal and letting fly with a rocket of a shot that hit the right top corner of the Celtic net, 2 nil to Ballyhar. Pressing their advantage Ballyhar kept driving forward and when an inspired run into the Celtic box by Killian O'Sullivan ended with him rounding several playersand slotting the ball home to make it 3-0 with 15 mins left in the half. Celtic to their credit never gave up and pushed Ballyhar at times, with a rare lapse of concentration saw a poor clearance fall Celtic's way who pulled a goal back 1-3. But Ballyhar kept driving forward and absorbed a fair share of Celtic pressure in the last few minutes, but it ended 3-1 to Ballyhar. F/T 1-3

Every player put in a superb performance and should be well proud of themselves. Hard to pick a man of the match but it has to go to Captain Shane Edwards who covered every inch of the pitch today. Well done to the boys on a great performance and thanks to Killarney Celtic for a sporting game.
