Ballyhar U12s visited Cromane on Saturday to play Milltown in the league.
From the kick-off, Milltown attacked and when a cross was only half cleared, it fell to a Milltown player on the edge of the box who blasted it into the top corner, past Adam Quirke in goal. Ballyhar regrouped and worked hard to get back on terms.
Unfortunately, the next goal went to Milltown, but Ballyhar never let their heads drop, with some excellent defensive work from Ruairi Casey and Ciaran Ferris.
During a forward run towwards the end of the first half, Elliot Lyne, suffered a minor knee injury, which meant a reshuffle in the second half, with Quirke moving out into defense, and Casey moving into midfield.
The boys continued to battle hard in the second half, with Quirke playing some excellent soccer out from the back and Thomas Ryan working hard in midfield. Lyne rushed from his goal, time and again to sweep away any danger, as well as keeping Milltown out on a number of 1 on 1s. Ciaran Ferris' tireless running from left back, provided opportunities on the left, but unfortunately, Ballyhar couldn't get the ball in the net.
The Ballyhar 9, despite tiring, kept giving all they had, and managed to draw the second half 0-0. Well done to all on, for the grit they showed in tough circumstances.
Ballyhar Squad: Adam Quirke, Ciaràn Ferris, Elliot Lyne, Ewan Myers, Josh Nelligan, Ollie Kirwan, Rìan Comerford, Sam Myers, Ruairi Casey, Thomas Ryan
