U12 Girls Division 1: Killarney Athletic 2 - 3 Ballyhar Dynamos

U12 Girls Division 1: Killarney Athletic 2 - 3 Ballyhar Dynamos

A Hat trick from Lucy Wynne proved enough for the Ballyhar girls in a close encounter in Woodlawn on Sunday.

Ballyhar had the better of the opening half and squandered a few chances that should have been converted. Great energy and pressing from midfield was causing Athletic a lot of problems and only for some heavy touches in the final third, it could have been all over by half time. Instead, Ballyhar went in just 2 goals up after great breaks and pace from Lucy Wynne. Eimear Spring and Ruby O'Connor kept chasing and hounding in midfield and dangerous breaks from Emma O'Callaghan should have led to more goals but Ballyhar's finishing wasn’t as clinical as it should have been.

Midway through the second half the high intensity game was taking its toll on the Ballyhar midfield as energy levels dropped and Killarney Athletic took advantage to pull one back when Ballyhar failed to clear their lines. However, as is always the case with these Ballyhar girls, they dug deep and a long mazy dribble from Lucy Wynne resulted in her 3rd goal and secured the win. A late mistake from a poor kick out allowed Athletic to reduce the scoreline to just 1 but it was too late to impact the result, with Ballyhar closing out the game. It was a great showing from all the Ballyhar girls with Seoidin Scanlan putting in a strong defensive performance which limited Athletic to half chances and the Hat-trick Hero - Lucy Wynne.

Well done to all the girls.
