An early kickoff on Saturday morning saw Ballyhar Dynamos travel to Fenit Samphires for this division 2 clash.
Captain Diarmuid Fitzgerald won the toss and opted to take advantage of the slight gradient in the pitch, this proved a master stroke with Ballyhar dominating the early encounters with their usual pressing game giving Fenit little or no time on the ball. The middle of the park was being controlled by Ballyhar and midfield maestro Bryan Evans was again on top form pulling the strings like a master puppeteer. His vision set up numerous chances that the youthful forward line would have scored from except for the offside rule. Euan Costelloe and Elliot Lyne were, as always, working hard on the flanks and giving great options for full backs Lachlan Leslie and Diarmuid Fitzgerald. With both full backs cutting out the vast majority of attacks and using the full width of the pitch to set up countless attacks. The centre back partnership of Dermot Nealon and Paddy Hurley mopped up any attacks that came through the solid Ballyhar midfield.
Evan Greensmyth in goal had a quiet morning but again was on hand to deal with the rare shots that came at him. His distribution from kickouts acted as a platform for setting up the Ballyhar attacks. Up front the teamwork of Tadgh Fitzgerald and Sean Evans was causing huge problems for the Fenit defence. Fitzgerald’s runs were penetrating every time and it was only a matter of time before he opened what would turn out to be a big account.
Tadgh Fitzgerald would go on to score six in this game and earn himself the player of the match award. Assists along the way from Bryan Evans x 2, Euan Costelloe and Jack Sheehy set up the lethal marksman. Jack Cooper who wasn’t 100% match fit came on at half time and scored the remaining goal from a Fitzgerald assist. All in all a very good performance with everyone giving a great performance. F/T 0-7
