U13 Cup Round 1: Feinit A 5 - Ballyhar B 0

On a tough day for the Ballyhar u13 B team, their amazing cup run came to an end.

Playing away to Premier Division opponents our Division 2 team were up against it from the start. Fenit took full advantage of home pitch playing with the wind and the slope in the first half. Ballyhar struggled to get going, however, good defending from Diarmuid Fitzgerald, Liam Smyth and Lachlan Leslie helped limit the Fenit chances. Up front Rian Comerford and Jack Cooper were starved of possession but put in a good shift chasing down everything they could.
On the wings Elliot Lyne and Jack Sheehy tried to get the ball down but found no joy against the solid premier division defence.

Fenit were moving the ball well across the middle of the park and despite the usual high work rate of Bryan Evans and Paddy Hurley Fenit were able to pick off a few goals before the break. At 3-0 down and just before half time disaster struck when the ever reliable Ballyhar keeper Evan Greensmyth was challenged in the box resulting in a bad shoulder injury which meant he needed to be substituted. We wish him a speedy recovery.
The resulting chances meant Centre back Ewan Myers went into goals and Lorcan O'Mahony was introduced. H/T 3-0

The second half proved a little better for the visitors with a few half chances being created but as Ballyhar grew more tired the home team picked off two more goals to seal a deserved win. Not even the introduction of fresh legs off the bench in Tadhg Fitzgerald and Dermot Nealon, could help stem the flow of the Feinit attack.
F/T 5-0

Best in the Day for Ballyhar were Lachlan Leslie, Liam Smyth and Paddy Hurley.
