Blustery conditions on a clear Sunday afternoon at Murt Scott Park couldn't stop some fine play from Ballyhar in this Under 12 Division 1 game.
There was some entertaining early exchanges from both sides, as they traded blows, until Ballyhar started to press higher and get on top. They created several close chances against the wind before finally finding the net with Jack Cooper working in from the right hand side and taking his goal nicely to make it 1-0.
Listowel were now finding it harder to get out of their own half despite early pressure playing with the breeze.
Ballyhar kept surging forward and it wasn't long before they made it 2-0, Jack Sheehy hammering a shot that the Listowel keeper could only parry to Jack Cooper, who didn't need to be asked twice to double the lead.
Ballyhar were now very comfortable and playing well in all areas, number 3 wasn't far away and Sean Evans can take the credit for forcing the ball across the Listowel goal with a fine shot that ricocheted over the line.
Halftime 3-0 to Ballyhar.
The second half saw Ballyhar come back onto the pitch very strong and putting extreme pressure on the Listowel goal forcing corner after corner.
Ballyhar scored a fourth goal from Jack Sheehy who did well to hit a low volley down to the right and beyond the diving Listowel keeper.
Ballyhar's tails were up but in difficult conditions all credit must go to Listowel for not giving up and scoring a well worked goal that just squeezed past the diving Gavin Sheahan in Goals.
This pushed Ballyhar on again with Bryan Evans smashing a great shot from long distance that rebounded off the crossbar and into a Listowel defender who instinctively used his hands giving a penalty to Ballyhar. Sean Evans stepped forward to take the kick only to see his effort well saved by the keeper.
