U13 Division 2: Ballyhar B 1 Castleisland C 4

U13 Division 2: Ballyhar B 1 Castleisland C 4

It was quite a tough evening for our U13 B's on Wednesday as they fell behind and never recovered.

With Murt Scott Park in pristine condition under foot, Castleisland made full use of a strong breeze in the first half putting the home side under pressure right from the off. They took full advantage after just 5 mins when a long ball was played to the back post and struck to the net. The second goal came after some good play down the left wing, with the third killer goal coming just before half time opening up Ballyhar with a ball over the top. H/T 0-3

Ballyhar did show some character in the second half and were unlucky not to score in the 40th minute when Killian O'Sullivan hit the crossbar. Defenders Alan Mortek, Daithi Allen and Fionn Clifford did well to keep Castleisland at bay while Ballyhar tried to turn the tide. The Castleisland defence stood strong though and were gifted a fourth goal, when a hopeful cross from the right was turned into the net by a Ballyhar defender. Thankfully, as the clock ran down, Ballyhar got the goal their 2nd half efforts deserved when Alex Kelly ghosted in at the back post to turn a nice cross into the net.

It was a tough night for Ballyhar who battled hard in the 2nd half but couldn't recover from a very poor first half. With just two games remaining in the season, they will look forward to finishing off with a better performance.
