Our u13s took on local rivals MEK in the final league game of the season at Murt Scott Park on Saturday.
Things didn't get off to a great start for Ballyhar as MEK immediately settled into the game and forced a number of corners. They took the lead inside 10 minutes when a free from the left was fired into the box, evaded the Ballyhar defence and ended up in the back of the net. MEK had their tails up and went 2 up a number of minutes later via a well worked move. Now 2 down, Ballyhar finally began to get into game and created a number of chances before halftime but couldn't find the net. HT 0:2
Following a number of positional changes and subs off the bench, Ballyhar came out for the 2nd half full of intent. They started to create a number of chances, including a stunning shot from Sean O'Leary Griffin which came off the crossbar. They kept the pressure on and they narrowed the gap when Alex Finn fired home from a well worked moved down the right side. At this point, Ballyhar's midfield were well on top with Diarmuid Casey, Ryan Vickers and Dylan Fitzgerald all prominent. Ballyhar deservedly equalised on 53 mins, after good work down the left by Ryan Vickers who switched play across the pitch through Dylan Fitzgerald, with the ball finding Alex Finn on the right who fired home to eqalise. Ballyhar pushed on for the winner and created a number of excellent chances, which on another day would have found the net but the spoils were shared in this local derby. F/T 2-2
Thanks to MEK for a sporting and exciting game. Best for Ballyhar were Sean Griffin, Dylan Fitzgerald, Diarmuid Casey and Ryan Vickers, with MOTM going to Alex Finn for his 2 goal haul and excellent display upfront.
