U14 Boys Division 1: Mastergeeha 3 - Ballyhar Dynamos 4

Building on the confidence gained from their last outing Ballyhar U14 A's raced into and early lead away to Mastergeeha.
On 8 mins keeper Adam Quirke’s kick-out found Darragh McLaughlin, whose touch, turn and pass to Elliot Lyne, resulted in Lyne rolling the ball into the bottom left corner. (0-1)

As Ballyhar got a grip on the game full backs Liam Smyth and Mark Van Der Merwe pushed the play down the flanks and kept Mastergeeha pinned back. On 34mins Ballyhar doubled their lead when Van Der Merwe cleared a long ball to Mclaughlin on the wing. He delivered a pinpoint cross to Josh Nelligan whose red hot streak continued as he took two sharp touches and finished into the bottom left corner. (0-2) Nelligan got his second on 38 mins when another accurate kick-out from Quirke landed at his feet in the centre circle, he controlled it, drove forward, and fired it into the net. (0-3)

In the 2nd half Ballyhar continued their dominance when they made it four, when on 40mins, Lyne threaded a perfect ball into space for Nelligan who made no mistake with the finish to complete his hat trick. (0-4)

It was at this point the wheels came off a little for Ballyhar, as the home team showed real spirit and got goals on 51mins, 66 mins, 68mins to make it 3-4 and give the boys in blue a real scare. However, with a formation switch and some last gasp defending, Ballyhar managed to hold on to earn a well deserved win.

Best on the day: were Josh Nelligan, Elliot Lyne, Adam Quirke in goals and Mark Van Der Merwe.
