U14 Div 1 Result: Killarney Celtic 3 - Ballyhar 1

The U14 lads put in a great shift today against a good Celtic side but failed to create enough clear chances to sway the result.

Celtic put us under pressure right from the whistle as Ballyhar struggled to get to grips with the astro surface. Celtic got their reward for all their pressure after 12 mins when stand in keeper Daniel Gleeson was unlucky not to keep out a close range effort which eventually crossed the line to give them the lead. Celtic continued with the pressure and caused havoc down the right hand side with our defence just managing to keep them at bay. The 2nd goal for Celtic came from a ball played over the top after a Ballyhar move broke down, with their excellent right winger calmly finishing past the advancing Gleeson. 5 mins later it was deja vu with again the No.7 for Celtic out running our back line on another clinical counter attack. Halftime 3-0

Ballyhar had some good spells in the 1st half and that continued in the 2nd with Marcus Clifford, John Henderson & Anthony Cremin playing well and helped by the fresh legs of Tom Costelloe and Jim O'Dowd. The lads kept pushing all game and kept a clean sheet in the 2nd half. Ballyhar deserved a goal and it came with 10 mins left via a lovely lob by Henderson after Cremin played him through. The Celtic keeper unfortunately wasn't tested enough, but Ballyhar performed well in an exciting game played with good sportsmanship and skill.

This side keep improving every week and are a credit to the club. Thanks to Killarney Celtic for a good game.
