It was a thrilling evening of football at Murt Scott Park this evening with Ballyhar coming away with a well earned victory. Ballyhar started off strong with 2 goals inside the first 10 minutes from Anthony Cremin and John Henderson which was just reward for some great early play. Unfortunately we were pegged back to 2-2 against the run of play after 2 long range efforts from Liam Harmon found the roof of the net. Ballyhar played well and managed to get our noses in front before half time with a fantastic effort from Anthony Cremin from an impossible angle, his 2nd of the half.
H/T 3-2
Cremin then completed his hat-trick 15 mins into the 2nd half putting us 4-2 up and we looked to be heading for a comfortable victory. But within 2 mins following a few failed clearances, Athletic narrowed the gap to 1 once more. Both teams kept pushing forward and a great double save from the Athletic keeper to deny Tom Costelloe the insurance score. A 5th did eventually arrive for Ballyhar and a 4th of the game for the outstanding Anthony Cremin. Athletic kept pushing forward and made the last 10 mins interesting when they narrowed the gap to just 1 again. But Ballyhar held on for a deserved victory and a great team performance.
