U15 Div 1: Fenit 0 - 5 Ballyhar

U15 Div 1: Fenit 0 - 5 Ballyhar

Our U15's put in a great performance on Saturday morning in very windy conditions as they took all 3 points home from their visit to Fenit.

Playing with the wind in the 1st half, the lads flew out of the blocks putting the home side under pressure and with just 5 mins on the clock they found the back of the Fenit net through Anthony Cremin. The lads kept up the pressure and when Cillian Slattery took on 2 defenders down the right and cut inside on 10 mins, Fenit tripped him up inside the box for a penalty. Slattery stepped up and calmly put it away. 2 nil to Ballyhar.

The home side tried to get a foothold in the game after that, but the hard work of Marcus Clifford, Conor Regan and Tom Costelloe made sure there was no easy chances for them. Ballyhar kept pressing throughout the half and it rained dividends again on 25 mins when Slattery sprinted onto a long ball, looked 2nd best to the Fenit keeper but somehow managed to nick the ball around him and had an easy finish to make it 3 nil.

H/T 0-3

The elements seemed to try and help the home side for the 2nd half as the wind kicked up another gear meaning a lot more pressure on the Ballyhar defence. Thankfully on the 2 or 3 occasions where Fenit hit the target, Eoin O'Mahony more than matched their efforts to keep his sheet clean with some fine saves.

Cremin, Slattery, Davin Quilter and Jim O'Dowd all kept causing the home side trouble on the counter and with under 5 mins remaining Jim O'Dowd found space insode the box, swivelled and struck into the bottom left to make it 4 nil.

The final kick of the game was from the penalty spot with Slattery taken down again before dusting himself off to claim his 2nd Hat-trick in 2 games.

It was a really good performance from the lads following on from their great win last week. Best for Ballyhar were Cillian Slattery, Marcus Clifford and Conor Regan, who was outstanding at Right Back.
