U15 Premier: St Brendan's Park 1 - Ballyhar 2

U15 Premier: St Brendan's Park 1 - Ballyhar 2

Our U15's made the short trip to Tralee for a tightly contested game  against the league leaders, Park.

It was a tense opening 15 mins with Park enjoying the majority of possession, but Ballyhar defended well and gave up no scoring opportunities. Ballyhar playing against a strong breeze in the first half defended stoutly, worked exceptionally hard as a team and then struck the opener on 25 min when Ryan Quilter unleashed a shot from outside the box, giving the keeper no chance 0-1. We remained completely focused and gave up nothing for the remainder of the half. HT 0-1

Now playing with the breeze, Ballyhar tried to kick on. Ryan Vickers and Diarmuid Casey found some success down the wings, and linked up well with Dylan Fitzgerald. We extended our lead 10 min into the half from a corner expertly delivered by Quilter, despite both teams attacking the ball it went untouched into the net. 0-2 A few mins later Jack Kelly broke upfield and had a great chance to make it 3, only for his effort to go agonisingly wide. With nothing to lose, Park came at us hard, but the back four of Brendàn Allman, Eoin Casey, Daire Cornally & Adam Fleming defended with everything they had. The work rate of Alan Mrotek and Jack Kelly was immense and they held our shape throughout. As the final whistle was getting closer and the legs were starting to wain, Park created 3 excellent opportunities, only for our hero between the sticks, Dan Duggan pulling off some unbelievable saves. The home side eventually broke us down and pulled 1 back with literally the last kick of the game, but Ballyhar held out for the 3 points. F/T 1-2

The Ballyhar lads put in a massive shift, they were disciplined, focused and got their reward in what was a tight battle.

M.O.M - Our keeper Dan Duggan who was vocal and commanded his back four all game, and when called upon at the death, ensured we held out.

Thanks to Park for a sporting game.
