In a top of the table clash, our U16's hosted Iveragh United in a cracking contest that saw both teams taking a share of the points. Both started the game quickly with Iveragh getting a few good shots off. Ballyhar went direct over the top and with a good ball which took the Iveragh defence by surprise, Conor Edwards ran from deep in his own half to control well and put the ball in the net for Ballyhar. Iveragh got their equaliser from the spot when an unfortunate fall caught an Iveragh forward to make it 1-1. Ballyhar took the lead again with 10mins of the half left, when Arron Moriarty struck to make it 2-1 going in at halftime.
The 2nd half saw Iveragh come out fighting and took control early with 3 good goals without reply. Their 2nd was a well placed shot from edge of box to make it 2-2. They got their 3rd from a corner and their 4th from a good run, controlling the ball well to get in behind defence to make it 2-4 to Iveragh. Ballyhar had 12mins to turn it around and needed to push hard. First they got a corner which resulted in getting 1 back through Daragh Cornally’s header to make it 3-4. That lifted Ballyhar and they got the upper had hand and pushed for the equaliser. They got their just rewards, when the Iveragh goalie pulled down the onrushing forward to give a spot kick away. Isaac Vicker’s stepped up to convert to make it a 4-4 game with 4 mins left. Ballyhar had a great chance to grab all 3 points at the death, only for poor passing to let them down. A draw was probably a fair result considering the way the game went.
F/T 4-4
Well done to Iveragh and the Ballyhar boys for a good entertaining and sporting game.
