A good start to the campaign for our U16 team in Ballyhar on Thursday evening with the help of a few U15’s to make up the numbers.

Ballyhar settled well and got off the mark early thanks to a goal from Kealan Riordan. The game was really open for the first quarter as both sides looked to settle into a rhythm. It was a end to end stuff as Aaron Moriarity made 2:0 before the opposition pull one back. Not to be outdone Conor Edwards made it 3:1 after a helter-skelter first 20 mins. After that both teams cancelled each other out and the score stayed the same until halftime. H/T 3-1

LB Rovers came out for 2nd half trying to cut the gap and kept probing the Ballyhar defence but our lads didn’t give an inch with some good goal keeping LB Rovers out. Then it was Ballyhars turn to strike back with Kealan Riordan adding 2 more goals for his hat-trick. 5-1 LB rovers did manage to pull one back but the 3 points stayed with the home side for a good opening day victory.

MOTM was the Hat-trick man Kealan Riordan with honourable mentions to Alan Mortek, Daniel Duggan and Aaron Moriarty.
