U17 Div 1 result:
Mastergeeha B 4 Ballyhar 1
Our U17's had a late afternoon kick-off against regular foes Mastergeeha B and got off to a bad start when a failure to clear their lines inside 5 mins allowed the home side to strike first and take the early lead. 1-0 The home sides forward line caused us massive trouble all game as their movement and link play meant our backline needed to be sharp. Upfront Jayden Muj had an impressive 1st start for Ballyhar and made great running all game, along with Eoghan O'Sullivan down the right who also gave us an outlet down the right. The 2 combined for our first shot on target with O'Sullivan cutting it back to the edge of the box with Jayden's snap shot unfortunately straight at the keeper. With the home side controlling possession, the 2nd goal came from a well worked move and a good strike from just outside the box that O'Mahony couldn't reach, to make it 2-0 at halftime.
The last thing our lads needed was to conceed an early 3rd goal, and unfortunately, it arrived after another lapse at the back. The lads kept pushing, with a few introductions off the bench making a difference. Our best chance of the half came from a towering header from O'Sullivan, who met Ross Lally's cross well, but it just went the wrong side of the crossbar. Lally also had a well stuck free-kick go just the wring side of the post. Mastergeeha got their 4th goal with 10 mins to go, but the last word went to Conor Edwards, who headed home a nice cross from another debutant Ryan Breen, to make it 4-1 at the final whistle.
Best for Ballyhar were Conor Giles, Eoghan O'Sullivan, and with a great all-around performance on his first start, Jayden Muj.
