Our U17's took on a good Inter Kenmare side AND the weather on Sunday at Murt Scott Park.
Unfortunately, things went against us even before kick-off, as losing the coin toss would have a massive say in the game. With the strong breeze behind them, Kenmare put the pressure on right from the whistle, with Ballyhar struggling to get into the game and even out of our own half. The visitors scored 5 goals in the first half, mainly as a result of some poor clearances and mistakes, but also some good play. H/T 0-5
Ballyhar needed a real jolt at halftime and came out much stronger in the 2nd half. Conor Edwads, one of the few who did well in the opening 45 mins, was outstanding and helped by some strong running by Jayden Muj, creating more positive forward play. At the back, the ever reliable Connor Giles did his best to keep Kenmare out, while Ross Lally also came into the game more. The introduction of Colby O'Meara also gave the team a lift, but shots on target were still hard to come by. Jayden and Edwards linked up well, and Mujiani got his rewards of a goal to make it 5-1. Kemmare got their 6th goal against the run of play shortly afterwards, but then Ross Lally got a 2md for Ballyhar. With Kenmare tiring, the clock was against us with 2 shots flying just wide of the Kenmare post. In the end, Kenmare were the worthy winners, but the lads can take great heart from a good 2nd half performance. F/T 2-6
