On a perfect afternoon for soccer, Ballyhar hosted Camp in Rusheen.
Ballyhar got off to a great start and went ahead after just 5 mins. Following great pressure on a camp throw Captain Emma O'Callaghan, leading by example, won the ball back and played in Niamh O'Sullivan who ran onto the through ball to slot home to the bottom right corner.
Roisin Mannix in midfield was putting a great shift and was the driving force behind the Ballyhar performance. O'Callaghan and Anna Kate Daly commanded the left wing and kept the tricky Camp winger under wraps. H/T 1-0
The second half began similar to the first with Ballyhar pressing for a second and Camp looking dangerous on the counterattack. The second goal came from a Ballyhar corner when Mannix swung in a low ball and Erica McCarthy pulled on the rolling ball to smash it into the back of the net.
With the home team in control the third goal was looking likely and with 10 mins left a Mannix through ball fell to Niamh who had no hesitation in pulling the trigger first time to beat the onrushing keeper. Camp pressed hard for a consolation goal but the Ballyhar team held out for an impressive home win.
Final score : 3-0 to Ballyhar
