U12 Boys Division 1: LB Rovers 3 - Ballyhar 2

U12 Boys Division 1: LB Rovers 3 - Ballyhar 2

On a cold and windy morning in Ardfert, Ballyhar U12s took on LB Rovers in a mid-table clash.

For the 3rd game in a row, Ballyhar started slowly, and were 1-0 down within the first minute after a couple of missed tackles. Ballyhar regrouped and played some of the better football, with great phases of passing football, in between some very dangerous LB attacks. Ballyhar continued to grow into the game, and drew level when Jack Duggan scored a cracker from the edge of the box 1-1. Ballyhar were well in the game at this stage, and continued to play intelligent, passing soccer to try to progress the ball forward. Unfortunately, during another LB attacking foray, Ballyhar again missed a tackle or 2 before LB put the ball in the back of the net. H/T 2-1

Despite Ballyhar dominating possession in the middle of the field, the LB defense continued to squash any danger. LB's forward players were a constant threat and put them 3-1 up! Elliot Lyne, in goal for the 3rd quarter, was goal sweeping with great effect, and made a world class save to claw the ball out of the top corner. The Ballyhar passing game was finally rewarded when a free kick from Reuben O'Leary Griffin was handled in the box. O'Leary Griffin stepped up to take the spot-kick and smash it into the roof of the net. F/T 3 - 2

The last 10 minutes was almost constant pressure from Ballyhar, as they kept LB pressed back. Despite Ballyhar getting through on goals 2 or 3 times, the chances just couldn't be converted.

All players on the field gave their all, and it was a very exciting and entertaining game. Well done to all involved.
