Our U12's had a hard fought battle with Killarmey Athletic on Saturday morning but eventually ran out winners after a strong 2nd half.
Wearing a changed kit, Ballyhar made hard work of things in the first half missing loads of chances in front of goal with the Athletic Keeper and his post keeping Alex Finn, Daithi Allen, Patrick O'Connor and Adam Fleming at bay. The lads just couldn't get the ball over the line with some fine saves, last ditch defending and the woodwork frustrating the home side in the first half.
H/T 0-0
Ballyhar needed a spark and it came in the form of Halftime substitution Killian O'Sullivan who turned the game on it's head with his direct running and pace. It took him 5 mins before he scored the opener that Ballyhar had desperately needed. His 2nd arrived 10 mins later after more tenacious work down the middle.
Adam Fleming was also moved to the wing and made a big difference down the right with his crossing and link up play. The 3rd goal was all about his persistence as he recieved the ball from Daithi Allen and took on the right back, got to the endline and didn't stop there, he rolled the ball along the line past another defender and audaciously smashed it into the far corner.
Athletic kept pushing and were dangerous on the counter with a few chances just missing the target. But Ballyhar weren't finished as O'Sullivan nabbed his hat-trick on 10 mins from the end after cutting in from the left hand side to finish off a valiant Athletic side.
Best for Ballyhar were Eoin Cremin, Daithi Allen and MOTM Killian O'Sullivan.
