U12 Girls Division 1: Ballyhar 2 Mastergeeha 5

U12 Girls Division 1: Ballyhar 2 Mastergeeha 5

Our U12 Girls had a great start to today’s game but alas went down 5-2 to a well balanced Mastergeeha team.

Ballyhar took the lead very early on after a long throw from Anna FitzGerald went over the Mastergeeha defence and Niamh O Sullivan dribbled in to the box and nestled the ball nicely in the corner.  Mastergeeha levelled after some uncertainty in the Ballyhar defence. Shortly after that Aoibhinn Daly gave Ballyhar the lead again after a lovely pass from Lucy Wynne and a cool calm touch on the edge of the box followed by a beautiful shot to the back of the net.

The heat was a big factor as the game wore on and with only one sub to use, the girls began to feel the pace and conceded a few goals. They girls fought bravely creating some chances for the usually leathal Lucy Wynne. Unfortunately, the Mastergeeha goalkeeper was on fire and made several good saves. Thanks to the hard work of Aoibhinn Daly in midfield, Emily O'Callaghan at full back and Emma O'Callaghan, who started in goal and then played in midfield, meant that Ballyhar were always in with a chance but just could not find away past the Mastergeeha keeper.F/T 2-5

Huge credit to the girls for giving their all in the searing heat and to Mastergeeha for a great game.
