In an entertaining end to end game on the Astroturf in Castleisland, Ballyhar, who were missing a few key players came up short on Saturday morning.
Getting the better of the early exchanges Ballyhar should have been one up when Niamh O'Sullivan’s shot went through the keeper’s legs but was cleared off the line. Ballyhar kept pressing with Lucy Wynne, Leah Cooper and Aoibhinn Daly doing well. However, Castleisland took their chances when they came and went 2-0 up, capitalising on the nervous Ballyhar defence who were struggling on their own kick outs and missing some important players.
Thanks to a mazy dribble and neat finish from Lucy Wynne, Ballyhar pulled it back to 2-1 and should have levelled things when a great corner from Niamh O'Sullivan led to a goal mouth scramble. Captain for the day Leanne Collins kept harassing the Castleisland midfield and nearly set up the hard working Emma O'Callaghan late on. But it wasn’t to be for Ballyhar as Castleisland pounced on the break and put the game beyond our girls. F/T 3-1
