U13 Premier Division: Mastergeeha 3 Ballyhar Dynamos 3

U13 Premier Division: Mastergeeha 3 Ballyhar Dynamos 3

Our U13s travelled to take on Mastergeeha at a windy Kilbrean Park on Saturday afternoon where the spoils were shared following a 6 goal battle.

Playing against the breeze in the 1st half Ballyhar were slow to settle, with Mastergeeha coming out of the blocks better and making the most of the conditions. They went 1 up after just 5 mins with a well worked goal and then scored a second 5 minutes later. Ballyhar dug deep and were rewarded when Shane Edwards, who was sprung from the bench early, was rewarded for chasing down the Mastergeeha defence. He created a panic in the Mastergeeha defence following what looked like a lost cause. But a mix up between 2 defenders and the keeper gave Edwards the chance to fire home from close range. That really settled Ballyhar and grew into the game with Sean O'Leary Griffin, assisted by Jack Kelly and Ryan Vickers getting a bit of a foothold in a congested midfield. However Mastergeeha were using the conditions well, and having forced a corner late in the first half, scored from close range when the ball fell to a free Mastergeeha player. H/T 3:1

Playing with the wind in 2nd half Ballyhar put Mastergeeha every chance they could and narrowed tge gap to 1 again when Jack Kelly squared the ball to Sean O'Leary Griffin who unleashed a shot from 25 yards that was too much for the Mastergeeha keeper who only parried it into the top corner. Game on. Ballyhar saw alot more of the possession with both Adam Fleming and Diarmuid Casey, who were playing out of position in defence, coming more and more into the game.

Ballyhar kept pilling on the pressure and were awarded a free kick 30 yrds out with 10 minutes to go. Ryan Quilter stepped up and hit a swerving shot that the keeper was unable to keep hold of. Following up was Griffin who again sloted the ball home to make it 3:3. Ballyhar tried to pushed for a winner but Mastergeeha had loads of bodies behind the ball and made it hard to create anymore clear cut chances. The game ended with a share of the spoils for both teams.

Best for Ballyhar were Ryan Quilter, Shane Edwards and MOTM Sean O'Leary Griffin.
