On a perfect day for soccer, Ballyhar u13 A's hosted Killorglin B in the first round of the cup at Rusheen on Saturday.
The game was evenly balanced with the ball ping ponging around a lot in the early stages. However everything changed in a 3min spell of dominance that turned the game on its head. Goals on 20, 21 and 22mins saw Ballyhar grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
First Darragh McLaughlin set up Josh Nelligan to score and then set up Ruairi Casey for 2-0 a minute later, before scoring himself on 22mins from a Thomas Flatherty cross. H/T 3-0
The second half saw Ballyhar move through the gears with Ruairi Casey setting up Reuben O’Leary Griffin on 32 mins to make it 4-0. Then an in swinging corner 3 mins later from O’Leary Griffin went in off a Killorglin defender to make it 5.
McLaughlin scored his second on 43 and completed the hat trick on 45 from an O’Leary Griffin assist. Ruben was the provider again on 50 mins when he set up Josh Nelligan for his second and Ballyhar’s 8th. Nelligan then completed his hat trick and completed the scoring on a great day for the u13s of Ballyhar on 53 mins. F/T 9-0
