U13 Division 2 South: Ballyhar B 2 Milltown FC 0

Ballyhar came out on top in this very enjoyable game on Wednesday evening at Murt Scott Park  Ballyhar came into the game focused on being competitive against a Milltown team who were unbeaten in the league this season.

Ballyhar started strong with great passing on display by Aaron Looney at right back, Brian McMahon and Ruari Casey in midfield. The first half was a game of little chances as Ballyhar showed their determination not to give any space to the opposition. H/T 0-0

The second half was one where Ballyhar were the first to every ball with Eoin Cremin, Darragh O' Sullivan, Ruari Casey and Brendan Flynn working tirelessly for their team. Ballyhars attacking players Charlie Curran, Brian Evans and Darragh McLaughlin were outstanding throughout. With both teams tryimg their best to score, with 10 minutes remaining Diarmuid Fitzgerald won a tackle that resulted in a Ballyhar corner from the right. Brian McMahon stepped up to pick out Darragh McLaughlin whos near post flick was met by Bryan Evan to header into the net. Ballyhar were not finished there and 5 minutes later an excellent Brian McMahon free kick came off the cross bar, and Charlie Curran was the first to react and tap the ball past the Milltown keeper. Now 2 goals up Ballyhar needed to restrict Milltown to just a few chances, thankfully keeper Adam Quirke who's distribution was outstanding throughout,  was at his best when called upon with 2 minutes remaining to make the save of the season. Milltown fired a low shot to the keepers left but somehow Adam extended fully to keep the ball out. F/T 2-0

All 16 players on the evening contributed with a determination to back their teammates all over the field, which resulted in their best team performance of the season. It was hard to.pick any one player in blue as player of the match, but Brian McMahon, who's positioning and passing was outstanding gets the nod. Thanks to Milltown FC for a good game
