U13 Girls Division 1: Ballyhar 1 - Feinit Samphires 4

U13 Girls Division 1: Ballyhar 1 - Feinit Samphires 4

Ballyhar hosted table-toppers Fenit Samphires and the visitors lived up to their  league place.

In a close first half it was Ballyhar who started the brighter, pressing and passing the ball with confidence. The midfield duo of Aoibhinn Daly and Emma O Callaghan working hard and controlling the play.  Up front Anna Kate Daly and Maisy O'Sullivan kept the Fenit defence on their toes. It was Maisy who struck first after  controlling a cross from the left flank, spinning and firing home to the bottom corner. It was on the wings where Ballyhar were getting most joy with Feile Dower and the extremely hardworking Olivia Prendeville giving much needed width to the team.

The Ballyhar defence were repelling the impressive Fenit as wave after wave of attack came. Anna Fitzgerald and the hard tackling Emily O'Callaghan  had their hands full with the Fenit attack and in particular the no.9 who stood out as huge talent. With full backs Kate O'Connor and Faye O'Brien protecting the wings Fenit were becoming frustrated and any shots that came through were ably dealt with by the ever reliable Ella Mitchell in goal.

However, the relentless pressure coupled with the unplayable no.9, meant Fenit eventually got on top equalising and eventually taking control. Even with the introduction of Sophie O'Brien, Clara Dower and Erica McCarthy, Ballyhar were not able to withstand the mounting pressure. Fenit eventually ran out 4-1 winners.

The Ballyhar girls gave great account of themselves and look forward to the next game.
Best on the day…
Aoibhinn Daly sweeping in the no 6 role.
Emma O'Callaghan bringing the fire at no 8
And Olivia Prendeville who never stopped on the right wing.
