Our U14 team maintained their unbeaten record after a tough battle with a resilient Camp Juniors side.
Ballyhar got off to the ideal start when Eoin Cremin rose highest at the back post to meet a well taken corner from Adam Fleming inside 5 mins. The next 30 was end to end stuff with both teams' defences to the fore. The Ballyhar back line of Aaron Looney, Daithi Allen, Eoin Cremin, and Darragh O'Sullivan were excellent, while Fleming and Killian O'Sullivan tormented the Camp defence with some great runs, but just couldn’t quite find the final pass to add to the scoreline. H/T 1-0
The 2nd half saw a few positional changes with Joshua O'Sullivan slotting in nicely at right-back & a switch between Fleming & O'Sullivan that eventually paid dividends. With more open field to run into, Killian O'Sullivan made more productive runs and scored his first from a tight angle on 45 mins for that important 2nd goal. 2-0 He soon notched his 2nd of the game when again cutting in and finding the far bottom corner. With his confidence high and more solid work done by his teammates to keep a good Camp side scoreless, he got his hat-trick 5 mins from full-time to make it 4-0 to Ballyhar.
While O'Sullivan rightly gets MOTM, it was a great defensive effort from Ballyhar that this win was built on. Camp gave us a heck of a game with some lovely team play, good goalkeeping, and a well deciplined defence. A special mention must go to the Camp left-back, Niamh, who showed our boys a thing or 2 about defending and how to take effective throw-ins. F/T 4-0
Best for Ballyhar were the outstanding Eoin Cremin, Daithi Allen, Adam Fleming and Ruben O'Leary Griffin.
Best of luck to Camp for the season.
